Happy National Book Lovers Day!

Today is National Book Lovers Day and here at EliteExecs, we think it’s important to get cosy with a good book and a cup of tea every once in a while. Here are our team’s much loved books over the years to inspire you for your next read..

We’ll start with our Director, Julie, who, when she has a spare hour or two, loves to sink into a great page turner..

“My book is The Tattooist of Auschwitz, by Heather Morris. The book is based on real life events and covers the trauma, pain and the survivor guilt experienced. The story follows Lale Sokolov's journey as a prisoner of Auschwitz concentration camp and how he adjusts to his new life as a Jewish Prisoner. Whilst reading I could not help but fall in love with Lale and the friends he made, so much so I went on to read Cilka’s Journey. A must read.”

Now Karen’s choice..

“My book would be Longhand by Andy Hamilton. This book follows the tale of a clumsy Scotsman who has to leave his lover behind and explains all in a 300 page letter left on the kitchen table for her to find. Many secrets come pouring out in this handwritten letter, some funny, some heart wrenching - uniquely brilliant”

Zoe has a different take..

“I love reading cookbooks and trying out new recipes.. My favourite for a while now is ‘I love INDIA’ by Anjum Anand. It is a book of recipes and stories from across India, for me the food always turns out super tasty and amazing flavours! My personal favourite is the Parsi Salli Chicken which is a recipe influenced by its Persian roots, the British, and the Indians. You serve it on top of Parsi saffron rice with sour cherries, and Crispy potato salli (think very thin French fries).. delicious!”

Jo loves..

“'And to My Nephew Albert I Leave the Island What I Won Off Fatty Hagan in a Poker Game' by David Forrest. A comedic look at political agenda along with two young lovers on the side. I’ve read it three times over 30 years, I love the memories and connections it created for me when the world was less connected by social media as it is today.”

So there you have it, pick up a book when you can and try and support your local library if you can. Have a wonderful rest of your week… Happy reading!
